The Valetly standard

Four things fixed on every booking

Valets are independent professionals. These are the parts Valetly checks and stands behind, whoever accepts the job.

  • Checked before the first job

Photo ID, document checks and up to £1m public liability insurance are verified before any valet is offered a booking.

  • A price that does not move

Fixed packages from £75. The total shown at checkout is the total charged — no call-out fee, no postcode surcharge.

  • Proof on every booking

Before-and-after photos are added to your booking when the valet finishes, so you can see the result even if you were out.

  • Not right? We put it right

If a finished area does not match the package you booked, tell us and we arrange a free re-clean or a refund.

Self Car Wash Alternative

A self car wash — a coin or card bay — sells you access to equipment for a period of time. You drive in, pay at the meter, turn a dial through the functions (pre-wash, wash, often a foam brush, rinse) and do the work yourself.

Many sites add a vacuum island and an air line.

In London they turn up in the same four places as jet wash bays: petrol station forecourts, the edges of supermarket car parks, railway arches and industrial yards, and dedicated multi-bay sites.

Hours vary widely — some forecourt bays close with the shop, some independent sites run late — so an open-now search on Maps is more reliable than any list we could publish. We do not maintain a directory of third-party sites and will not invent opening times or prices for them.

A self car wash works well if you have the time: it is the cheapest way to get a car clean in London, and you decide exactly how much attention each panel gets.

What it actually costs — money, and the rest

The meter price is set per site and changes, so treat the machine in front of you as the only accurate source. The predictable part is everything around it: the drive there and back, the queue behind whoever is in the bay, the timer that stops mid-roof, and an hour of your own labour.

That is a genuinely good trade if you like doing the car and the site is on your way. It is a bad trade if you are squeezing it into a Saturday you wanted back, or if you end up paying twice because the first round ran out.

Booked appointments price the other way round: a fixed figure that includes travel and labour, from £75 for 30 minutes of exterior work, with nothing metered.

The same job, at the address where the car is parked

On Valetly you enter the postcode where the car sits, pick an appointment and a slot, and a vetted independent valet comes to it. The car does not move.

You are not in the bay, so you are not wet, and the timer does not exist. You booked a length of appointment, not a length of hose time.

At the end, before-and-after photos land on your booking and payment is captured. The valet has cleared photo ID and business checks and carries up to £1m public liability insurance.

If the result is not right, we arrange a re-clean.

What you give up is the pound-a-minute economics of a coin bay, and the satisfaction of doing it yourself. What you get back is the trip, the queue and the afternoon.

Prices at your address

One published set of bands for the whole coverage area:

AppointmentTimePrice (medium car)
Express Exterior~30 min£75
Mini Valet~60 min£99
Interior Valet~75 min£119
Full Valet~150 min£169
Signature Detail~210 min£269

Large cars and SUVs are +£15; vans are quoted individually. The total is shown before you confirm and captured once the job is finished.

No call-out fee, no travel supplement, no central-London premium, and free cancellation up to 1 hour before the start. Compare the market in our public London price dataset.

The cabin: the part a coin bay cannot sell you

Self-service sites are built around the outside of the car. A vacuum island helps with footwells, but seats, carpets, mats, plastics, interior glass and the boot need time and hands rather than a lance and 20p.

On a booked appointment that is just a different slot: £119 for a cabin-focused appointment, £169 for inside and out in one visit, £269 for the longest appointment when a car has years on it.

Dedicated pages: car interior cleaning, interior deep clean, car seat cleaning, car carpet cleaning.

A sensible hybrid, and one plenty of London customers use: keep the bay for a quick rinse between times, and book an appointment when the cabin needs real attention.

Coverage, slots and booking

Greater London and the commuter belt inside the M25. Same-day slots are common in central, west and south-west London.

North, east and south-east London are usually same or next day. The outer belt is typically next-day.

Booking takes about a minute. The car can be on a driveway, in an allocated bay, on a permit street, in an estate car park or in a garage the valet can reach on foot.

Put the gate code, level or bay number in the notes. Popular areas: Croydon, Bromley, Sutton, Romford, Hounslow, Watford.

Related pages: jet the service, self service clean alternative, hand clean near me, appointment near me.

Who does the work

Every valet on the platform clears the same checks before a single job is offered: account details, photo ID, business documents and proof of public liability insurance up to £1m, reviewed by our team.

You see the name and profile of the person coming, you can message them in the app, and the finished car is documented with before-and-after photos on your booking.

Valetly is a UK company registered in England and Wales, company number 17255496. Payment is captured when the appointment is completed, not when you reserve the slot, and cancellation is free up to 1 hour before the start.

See the cancellation policy and how we vet valets.

What we deliberately do not dictate is how an independent professional works: equipment and technique are theirs. What we guarantee is who turns up, that they are insured, that the result is photographed, and that a poor result is put right with a re-clean.

Frequently asked

Where is the nearest self wash to me in London?
Coin and self-service bays are mostly on petrol station forecourts, at the edge of supermarket car parks, in railway arches and on dedicated multi-bay sites. An open-now search on Maps is the reliable way to find the closest, since hours vary by site.
How much does a self service wash cost?
Bays sell time at a meter and prices are set per site, so the machine in front of you is the only accurate source. Budget for two rounds if the car is very dirty.
How do you use a coin wash?
Pay at the meter, then use the dial to move through pre-wash, wash, often a foam brush, and rinse, working around the car before the timer stops. Many sites also have a vacuum island and an air line.
Is a self wash cheaper than booking someone?
Per visit, yes — you are supplying the labour and the journey. A Valetly appointment starts at £75 with travel, a fixed price, photos and a re-clean included.
Can I get the interior cleaned without going to a bay?
Yes. A cabin-focused appointment at your address is £119, inside and out is £169, and the longest appointment is £269.
Do I need to supply water or electricity?
Tell us during booking whether water and electricity are available. We use your answers and any building restrictions to match a valet whose setup suits the location.
Does Valetly run its own bays?
No. Valetly is a booking platform for independent professionals who work at your address; we do not operate sites.
